Believe 03:21
An altered light reflecting as it glistens through the trees, the colors swapping places and the shadows won’t stop dancing. There’s something moving everywhere, the moments always changing and defying definition, it declares its meaning plain. Lift your eyes, it’s waiting right before you to realize it’s gone before it’s here. Don’t be shy, the invitation’s free, but don’t deny the promise that it makes. Believe Traveling unconsciously put one foot after next, Always going somewhere it’s a blur that you ignore, but when you blink it disappears, returning when you do, revealing you create the scene, which also means that you can change it, too. Believe Infinite, just another lonely atom bit by bit, distracted by the parts. Ride the wave, it’s a wash of new connections, just be brave jump into everything. Believe

Any time I need you All I do is close my eyes. I can see you now. A world appears to me Once I realize. I can see you now. The light a distant promise Near yet so far away But it belongs to us today. Every day. Anyway. Moments I’ve imaged I don’t need to wonder why. I can see you now. When I’m confused, there’s One thing that I can’t deny I can see you now. What if we found our senses False the only truth? Would we forgive our fears? What if our intuition was Coded in our hearts? Would we know it without tears? I can see you now.

Sometimes 02:54
The outlook’s grim That’s what they’re saying. Chance will never favor us again. The story’s told The ending written Where we’re going’s only where we’ve been. There’s nothing we can do. So, don’t even bother trying There’s no excuse No explanation Nothing makes sense, and then: Sometimes, I listen closely Sometimes I can hear Sometimes, when the noise is loudest Sometimes something’s near. Sometimes, I change my focus Sometimes I can see Sometimes, when we least expect it Something better can be. So, don’t look up Just keep it down. Keep doing what you’re supposed to do. It’s been decided The verdict given The battle lost before it started. How will we find On old paper peeling from the walls Stained and disfigured, a witness we’ll never know. What can we do Through cracked windows and broken pipes Used up before, but this home is ours. Sometimes. Sometimes, when it’s darkest Sometimes, I close my eyes. Sometimes, there’s an exception Sometimes I realize. Sometimes, you get me thinking Sometimes there’s a sign Sometimes, we should demand it Something yours and mine.

It’s been awhile since we first spoke, You’ve got all the notes now You’re in on the joke. What you know isn’t just what you knew You’re subsequently me I was formerly you. So, what’s new? The way things were is how they are What’s worse for you Is only bad, so far. You can see what we should have done My bet it’s the climate Sorry about that one. You see, the news tells us it’s a mess. So, we just hunker down And get by, I guess. Every hour seems so long Then the years add up Even though they’re gone. And that’s the thing I’ve got to say It’s me there tomorrow, Once it becomes today. The future isn’t what’s ahead It’s where we’re living What we’re doing instead. There’s no difference to explain You aren’t someone else We’re one in the same. My message to myself is this vow: Be in the moment Live right now.

about

"Ludd's Children" is a work in progress, currently a novel but I originally imagined it as a theatrical production with music. Here are songs that may or may not end up in the project, presuming it ever happens.
